A variety of art publications by artist and designers from Estonia is currently on show at the exhibition “in a maze”, curated by Marija Repšytė at the Klaipėda Cultural Communication Centre, open until 10 November. The preparations for the exhibition included researching art publications in Estonia, done in collaboration with Marika Agu, the archive project manager at the CCA. The exhibition also includes publications from the CCA’s archive.

“in a maze” is a travelling exhibition that features new set of publications in each of its new locations. The current iteration focuses on art publications from Estonia. The curator of the exhibition, Marija Repšytė made a reasearch visit to Tallinn in August this year, working at the CCA’s archive and meeting with local art book publishers. In addition to the CCA, Repšytė is also collaborating with the graphic design department at the Estonian Academy of Arts. As a result of the research trip, the Estonian section of the exhibition was created.

In total, “in a maze” features 38 artists and collectives, among them from Estonia Marge Monko, OPA! Publishing (Ott Kagovere), Maria Izabella Lehtsaar, Agnes Isabelle Veevo, Catalog (Lieven Lahaye), Andre Joosep Arming, ;paranoia publishing (kiwa; Henri Hütt and Evelyn Raudsepp), Laura Kuusk, Triin Tamm, Dear Friend (Sandra Nuut and Ott Kagovere), Pierre Satoshi Benoit, Alissa Nirgi.

Marija Repšytė is an artist operating in words, exhibitions, and exhibition architecture. She is an art editor of the journal Sphairos, published by the Lithuanian Culture Research Institute and the founder of the art/artist’s book publishing platform 12:15 and 12:15 Reading Room in Vilnius.

The exhibition will also be on display at the Form / Design Centre in Malmö, Sweden from February 2025.
