Daria Titova has been selected for the second internship, facilitated by the Borderland Poetics: Rewilding Tongues network. Titova was selected via an open call and she will conduct her internship as production assistant at the Aine Art Museum in Tornio, Finland from October to November 2026.
Daria Titova is a Ukrainian artist and designer working and living in Estonia. She works with themes of national identity, history, and colonialism. In her practice, she often uses embroidery, craft, and poetic devices to speak about her personal memories and sensitive experiences.
Regarding her motivation to apply, Titova says: “I come from the city of Kharkiv, where the border context has played an important role in people’s lives, sadly not in a positive way. The fact that Tornio is a border city also fascinated me. I am looking forward to the internship because I would like to understand how a cultural institution works from the inside. How can you become part of a museum’s body, help it breathe, bring joy to people? I would love to learn how exhibitions and cultural events are organised, how different people and roles work together, and how I can contribute to the work that happens behind the scenes.”
Amanda Hakoköngäs, curator at the Aine Art Museum comments on the selection: “Daria’s broad expertise, as well as positive and open-minded attitude, made a great impression on us. We look forward to working together on the exhibition and event production at the Aine Art Museum.”
The internship program is part of the project Borderland Poetics: Rewilding Tongues, which is a cooperation project between the Estonian Centre for Contemporary Art (Tallinn, Estonia), Aine Art Museum (Tornio, Finland), Icelandic Art Center (Reykjavik, Iceland) and Mostyn (Llandudno, Wales). The aim of the project is to connect cultural professionals based in Wales and in the Baltic-Nordic region and create paid internship opportunities for emerging cultural professionals.
