In January the CCA presented the database of Estonian artists that has now been updated to include 55 artist biographies. Artists featured in the database have a strong presence in contemporary Estonian art scene.

Since January, profiles of 14 artists have been added to the database: Sandra Jõgeva, Eleonore de Montesquiou, Krista Mölder, Jevgeni Zolotko, Alexei Gordin, Sandra Kosorotova, Kaarel Kurismaa, Siim-Tanel Annus, Ede Raadik, Maria Metsalu, Jüri Ojaver, Terje Ojaver, Diana Tamane and Leonhard Lapin.

Each artist’s profile includes an overview of their creative practice, short biography, documentation of selected works and exhibitions as well as links to outside sources further introducing the artist. All texts and visual materials have been approved by the artists.

The database is a tool for both Estonian and international art professionals and enthusiasts, looking to improve their knowledge of Estonian artists. At the moment the database includes 55 artists, however, the list is regularly updated. Additionally, the database will undergo technical upgrades, making browsing even more convenient and the artist profiles more detailed.

To improve the database, feedback is given by a special committee of Estonian art professionals including Eha Komissarov (Art Museum of Estonia), Peeter Talvistu (Tartu Art House), Liina Siib (Estonian Academy of Arts), Kaarin Kivirähk and Marika Agu (CCA).
