Paula Buškevica and Louise Borinski

The Estonian Centre for Contemporary Art is glad to announce Paula Buškevica and Louise Borinski have been selected as graphic designers for the Estonian pavilion at the 61st Venice Biennale. The selection was made based on applications submitted to an open call, drawing 10 participants. The designers were selected in collaboration between artist Merike Estna and the CCA’s team.

The collaborative practice of Paula Buškevica and Louise Borinski specialises in visual identities, publications, type design and exhibition design. Through collaborative modes of production, they investigate matter making following an intuitive and hands-on approach to graphic design. Together they work for creative professionals and cultural institutions in digital and print media. They have been working together since 2020 – a collaboration that was initially catalysed by a variety of shared projects at the Master’s program in Graphic Design at the Estonian Academy of Arts in Tallinn.

“I appreciated the way Paula and Louise boldly and freely interpreted my work. At the very core of my practice stands the concept of living painting and their proposed design evokes an idea of living design,” commented artist Merike Estna.

Merike Estna’s exhibition at the Estonian pavilion at the 61st Venice Biennale opens in May 2026.
