The archive of the Estonian Centre for Contemporary Art (CCA) has been expanded with videos by artists associated with Pärnu, covering works since the late 1990s. These videos document the phenomenon South-West Estonian anarchism, inspired by the activities of the Non Grata school and art collective, while also highlighting notable moments in the individual practices of artists.
The CCA’s archive received the collection of videos, recently exhibited at the exhibition “Peculiarities of South-West Estonian Anarchism ” at Tartu Art House, curated by Janno Bergmann. The collection includes the following authors and art collectives: Art Container, Janno Bergmann, Billeneeve, Cnopt, Andrus Joonas, Felix Mundus, Non Grata, Rubens, Tanel Saar, Siram, Sorge, Rauno Teider, Vedelik, and Circus Art Theatre “Giraffe with the Flaming Neck”.
The CCA’s video archive continues to preserve and mediate Estonian video art, performances, and exhibition documentation initiated in the 1990s. Interested parties can access the videos via remote viewing. In addition to the CCA, as of 2023, the archive materials are also preserved in the Film Archive of National Archives of Estonia, where they can be found in the Media Library and viewed in the National Archives’ research rooms.
The list of works in the CCA’s video archive is available here.
